What Is Bugging Me?

Honestly the same thing as always. These big websites giving false information as always on subjects they know nothing about. I seen a website recommend a 1/4 inch nap roller cover for walls! They apparently have never rolled a wall out at all. Unless you are living to 150 years old and have an entire day to devote to painting 2 walls in a room, we should definitely be doing things more efficiently.

The most versatile roller cover for almost every wall painting endeavor is the Pro Doo Z

Key Assumptions

Whether one is painting a fresh wall with primer or a previously painted wall, we will be applying a latex based paint. Its the year 2023 and almost all oils are banned. Only really good primers like a shellac based like “Zinsser B-I-N Shellac Base Primer” or mineral spirit based like “KILZ Original Primer” are still sold in stores. In some states they may also be banned. So with that being said. We will be painting a wall usually 8 foot tall, but could be 9, 10 or even 12 foot.

Almost Always

The 1/2 inch nap cover will be the default for all painting needs, but only a quality cover will do. The “Wooster Pro Doo Z FTP Roller Cover 1/2-Inch Nap” is going to be our workhorse. These covers never shed, and are cut to perfection never leaving ropes/lines on the wall. Even at a 1/2 inch they will not pull the paint up leaving excess stipple. One can paint a wall pretty fast getting 2-3 passes per dip and even 1 pass even on the tallest of walls. I would use a 3/8 inch nap roller for dark paints to reduce the risk of pigments getting pulled from the paint. This “pull” creates a hat ringed or halo effect on walls.
